Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21 in 1983. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington located in Ohio left high school in order to move in Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. They were struggling to make ends meet and was offered her first acting role in Rachel's Room's lead character. The actress was able to secure an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder in Greenwich. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. She played the lead role for two seasons, and also won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace decided to concentrate on film following her role as Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. Grace has been in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 as well as in Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of these roles. Grace played Shannon again in Lost's finale episode, as well as two additional episodes. In 2013 she appears in Season 6 of Californication. The actress plays Faith an actress in a group and as a muse to the stars, who catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Part of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens, she played small parts in the films of her father and was co-starring with her sister in Donnie Darko which is a cult classic. She also starred as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. The actress also starred in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her lead performances in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606), both of which garnered her Golden Globe Award nods. She had a number of films that were commercially successful, including World Trade Center. However it was her performance in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). Following her acclaimed performance as an unmarried mother on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee, The Big Bang and Hysteria. Some of her other roles are as an agent for the Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a vocalist in Frank 2014, and the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she portrays the title role. Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a writer and director in 2021, with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For the film, she won with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
